I am hearing so much talk about the Tribulation starting this Spring. One element that keeps being omitted from the interpretation that speaks to this time frame is the restored altar. We have to have the Temple Mount back, then we have to have an altar, then the altar has to be shut down.
"He will make a strong covenant with leaders for one week [of years]. For half of the week he will put a stop to the SACRIFICE and the grain offering. On the wing of detestable things the desolator will come and continue until the already decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.” Daniel 9: 27 CJB
"Armed forces will come at his order and profane the sanctuary and fortress. They will abolish the DAILY BURNT OFFERING and set up the abomination that causes desolation." Daniel 11: 31 CJB
In Daniel 9:27, the phrase "for half of the week" refers to half of the week of years which means 3 1/2 years. Then there will be another 3 1/2 years of Tribulation.
In Revelation 11: 2, it says "it has been given to the Goyim, and they will trample over the holy city for forty-two months." 42 months is 3 1/2 years. THEN, immediately following this verse in verse 3, we have "Also I will give power to my two witnesses; and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth." Did you notice that the time is measured in days and not months? Why the distinction? 1,260 days is 3 1/2 years but because it is measured differently than 42 months which is also 3 1/2 years, I believe that this points to a different 3 1/2 years.
Zechariah 4 speaks of restoring the Temple and connects with Revelation 11 with the Two Witnesses. I could be wrong of course, but simply reading the text tells me that there will be 3 1/2 years of Temple sacrifice and then 3 1/2 years of Abomination of Desolation. The events in the news today point to all things concerning the Tribulation coming together but the time is not yet. The altar is the key. Everything in Revelation and Daniel concerning the Abomination of Desolation points to the altar. The altar in Jerusalem is the stopwatch for the Tribulation. When it starts, we know we have seven years left until Messiah's return.
No altar, no Tribulation.
